Sandy Cunningham admits he was thrilled to score his first senior goal in Stirling Albion’s 2-0 win against Queen’s Park at Hampden on Saturday.
The 18-year-old, who joined us from Falkirk last summer and made his debut against Deveronvale in the Scottish Cup in November, came off the bench to net the opener with just eight minutes remaining.
Cunningham scored in pre-season friendlies against Civil Service Strollers and Stenhousemuir and is now hoping to add to his tally in League 2 after getting off the mark at the National Stadium.
He said: “It was an amazing feeling and I would never have thought that I would score my first senior goal at Hampden, so obviously it is extra special for me as it’s the home of Scottish football.
“My personal target this season was to score my first goal as soon into the campaign as possible – now I have, I’m just going to try and score as many as possible to help the team progress throughout the season.”
