It’s a top-of-the-table clash on Saturday as John Coughlin brings his League 2 pacesetters to Forthbank. We also have maximum points from two games but trail East Stirlingshire and Albion Rovers on goal difference. We have a good home record against our local rivals down the years but will face a stiff test in our quest to make it a hat-trick of wins after our early-season victories over Montrose and Peterhead.
Team news: Skipper Jamie Bishop is suspended after being sent off against Peterhead last week and Bradley Coyne is set to miss out with an ankle knock. Jamie McCunnie has left the club due to work and family commitments. Shire are missing Scott Maxwell, Ross O’Donoghue, Michael Herd, Rhys Devlin and Nathan Shepherd.
Season so far: Shire have already beaten Queen’s Park, 3-1 at Hampden, and Elgin City, 3-0 at Ochilview. Like ourselves, they have enjoyed less fortune in the cup competitions, going out to Formartine and Dunfermline in the first round of the Ramsdens and League Cup.
Last season: We won 9-1 at Forthbank in March but that was our only victory in four meetings. We lost the first encounter 3-1 at Ochilview and that was followed by a pair of 1-1 draws.
