Greig McDonald admitted his side were not at their best but was delighted with Saturday’s 2-1 win against Montrose at Links Park.
Mark Ferry headed the decisive goal with 14 minutes left after Dale Fulton’s sixth-minute opener had been cancelled out by Graham Webster late in the first half.
The Gable Endies played for an hour with 10 men after Ricky McIntosh was sent off for a last-man tackle on Phil Johnston and McDonald was relieved to get the job done.
He said: “It wasn’t pretty but this is a tough place to come – we found a way to win and that’s what you have to do in these situations. We played better when it was 11 v 11 but we kept plugging away in the second half and got the goal.”
Montrose gaffer Stuart Garden said: “With 10 men you are always up against it but we possibly deserved a point for our second-half performance.”
