Stirling Albion boss Greig McDonald admitted his team were soundly beaten as Hamilton chalked up a 3-0 win at Forthbank in the first round of the Scottish League Cup on Saturday.
A double from former Celtic striker James Keatings, either side of a Chris Smith own goal, saw the First Division side comfortably into round two.
McDonald said: “We were never at the races. It was a very bad day at the office and Hamilton won at a canter. That’s the worst I have seen us in quite a while and we need to make sure it doesn’t happen again – the players are disappointed and they know our thoughts on the performance.
“We are capable of much better and we need to show that in our first league game against Montrose on Saturday.”
Accies player/manager Alex Neil added: “I thought we dominated most of the game – it was a really professional performance. James Keatings was a bit slack in the first half hour but he showed his quality with the two goals.”
