Season 2013/14 kicks off on Saturday when we travel to Stark’s Park to take on a Raith side who finished sixth in Division One last season but have added the likes of Gordon Smith, Calum Elliot and Kevin Moon to their squad. We ended last term with just two defeats in 17 games but lost 3-0 to Falkirk at this stage of the competition last year.
Team news: Albion will be without midfielder David McClune and striker Bradley Coyne is likely to continue his push towards full fitness after a knee injury by playing in a weekend tournament with the youth team. Raith report no injury worries so player/manager Grant Murray will leave himself out of the side.
Past meetings: We have met just once before in the Challenge Cup – Stirling came out on top 2-1 at Forthbank in a first-round tie in July 2009. Albion have a good record at Stark’s Park in recent years – we went seven games without defeat in Kirkcaldy before losing 2-1 on our last visit in February 2011.
Pre-season: Raith have played strong opposition at Stark’s Park, drawing with Hibernian (0-0) and Inverness CT (2-2) and losing to Hearts (0-5) and Sheffield United (1-2). We warmed up for the real stuff with a 4-1 victory at Stenhousemuir last weekend and our only defeat in five outings was 3-0 to Wrexham in the Raydale Cup.
Referee: Euan Norris
Admission: £10 adults, £5 concessions
Second-round draw: Takes place at the Ramsdens Shop at Clydebank Shopping Centre on Wednesday July 31, at 3pm.
