We took part in our first match at Forthbank 20 years ago this week, losing 3-2 to Clydebank, and play our final home game of the season on Saturday when Elgin City are our visitors. Ross Jack’s side still have an outside chance of making the play-offs while we can move to within one point of the former Highland League outfit if we avenge a heavy home defeat from November.
Team news: Midfielder David McClune returns from suspension but defensive duo Brian Allison and Ross Forsyth are again out with knee injuries. Ross McGeachie is available after missing last week’s trip to Annan due to illness. Elgin are without banned top scorer Stuart Leslie while Paul Millar and Daryl McHardy are injured.
Past meetings: Elgin came from behind to win the first meeting this season 3-1 at Borough Briggs and stormed to a 4-1 victory at Forthbank in November. We earned our first away league win of the campaign at Elgin on March 2, Kieran McAnespie scoring a stunning first-half double in a 2-1 success.
Match facts: We lost 1-0 at home to Peterhead a fortnight ago but have suffered only two defeats in 15 matches. We are seeking our 10th home win – a record bettered only by Rangers and Berwick. Elgin suffered a 2-1 defeat to Berwick last week and are four points short of the play-offs but have taken seven points from their last three away fixtures against Peterhead, Queen’s Park and Annan.
Greig McDonald: “I have a number of players who are looking for contracts and a good performance against Elgin could seal the deal for them.”
Ross Jack: “It will be difficult as Stirling are the most improved team in this league and any team that only loses twice in 15 games has to be respected.”
