The final quarter of the campaign gets under way with a local derby against East Stirlingshire at Forthbank on Saturday, kick-off 3pm. It’s our ninth match in 29 days and our unbeaten run came to end when we lost 1-0 to Berwick at Shielfield on Tuesday. Greig McDonald’s side go into the match in seventh place, six points short of the play-offs but just one off the bottom of the table.
Team news: Albion are again without injured trio David Crawford, Graham Weir and Ross McGeachie while Gary Thom is suspended. Shire are missing Nathan Shepherd, Rhys Devlin and Michael Hunter and have doubts over a couple of other players.
Past meetings: We have not lost at home to East Stirlingshire since a 1-0 defeat at Annfield in August 1985 but were held to a 1-1 draw at Forthbank last month when Graham Weir’s opener was cancelled out by Kevin Turner’s penalty. Shire won the first game this season 3-1 at Ochilview and hit back for a 1-1 draw in the New Year fixture.
Match facts: Other than Rangers, ourselves and Berwick have notched up most home wins (seven). Shire’s only defeat in the last five matches was 3-1 at Ibrox and their away form is vastly improved in 2013, with wins at Annan and Elgin and draws at Montrose and Forthbank. We are above our local rivals on goal difference and are two of seven clubs separated by just seven points.
