Albion head for Elgin on Saturday aiming to extend our unbeaten run to seven matches in the first part of an away double header – we travel to Berwick on Tuesday. Elgin have slipped out of the play-off places after a disappointing run and went down 2-1 to Berwick in midweek but are only three points outside the top four.
Team news: Goalkeeper David Crawford is out with a thigh injury picked up against Rangers so Sam Filler will deputise and Jamie Cleland is set for a place on the bench. Defender Ross McGeachie remains sidelined and Graham Weir has not recovered from the hamstring strain he suffered last weekend. Elgin are missing Cameron MacDonald, Ross McKinnon, Jamie Duff, David Niven, Ceiran MacLean, Dennis Wyness and Lewis Halford. Paul Harkins and Paul Millar face late tests.
Past meetings: We lost 3-1 at Borough Briggs in August despite taking an early lead through Scott Davidson and Elgin ran out 4-1 winners at Forthbank in November. This is the first season since 2003/04 that the teams have met on league business.
Match facts: We are on a six-match unbeaten run and drew 0-0 at Peterhead a fortnight ago. We haven’t won away in the league since beating Albion Rovers 2-1 on the final day of last season. Elgin have won just twice in 14 matches since they defeated us in November but they overcame Annan in their most recent home fixture. Elgin’s 11 home games have produced 50 goals.
Greig McDonald: “We have had a good week but we cannot stop now as we have to climb the table further.”
Ross Jack: “We will be short of numbers but there is no point in feeling sorry for ourselves – we just need to go out and battle.”
