Ten-man Albion earned a hard-fought away point in a match of few chances at Balmoor as we made it three games without defeat since returning from a month-long lay-off.
Stirling remain without an away league win this season but, for the second time in 2012/13, we were well worth a point against the promotion hopefuls on their own ground.
It was 2-2 in October but this was a much tighter affair and, long before the end, it looked likely that we were on course for our first 0-0 draw since a blank against Ross County at Forthbank in March 2011.
We played the last eight minutes with 10 men after Brian Allison was harshly sent off for a challenge on Peterhead midfielder Jamie Redman but Greig McDonald’s men defended stoutly throughout.
The Binos boss made one change to the team that drew 1-1 with East Stirlingshire on Tuesday, with Ross Forsyth drafted in as Scott Davidson dropped to the bench in a 4-5-1 formation that saw Kieran McAnespie move into the centre of midfield and Jordan White as the lone striker.
White had the ball in the net in six minutes but the flag had already gone up for an offside flag against McAnespie earlier in the move. Scott Ross was then fortunate not to concede an own goal when he diverted a cross the wrong way and forced Graeme Smith into a smart save.
Overall, though, chances were scarce at either end. David Crawford made a good stop from a Rory McAllister free-kick but the Blue Toon, who scored four at East Stirling last week, struggled to break down an Albion defence superbly marshalled by former Forfar defender Jamie Bishop, who also came close to scoring with a header.
David McClune curled a 20-yarder just too high early in the second period but it was Peterhead who came closest to a goal in 57 minutes when David Cox’s corner was met by Redman, whose header rattled the post and caused panic before Crawford did well to gather the loose ball.
East Stirling’s win at Annan saw us slip four points adrift at the foot of the table but we have games in hand and have home matches with Annan and Clyde coming up.
