We are seeking a third straight league win for the first time since April 2010 when we travel to Montrose on Saturday for our final match of 2012 and our first fixture on the road since losing 2-0 at Ibrox on December 8. Montrose are in fourth place while we are a point behind our next opponents East Stirlingshire at the foot of the table.
Team news: Top scorer Jordan White, who has agreed a new deal until the summer, is suspended after being sent off against Peterhead last week but Gary Thom is free to play following confirmation from the Scottish FA that he has only been booked five times, rather than six. Danny Ashe and Jamie Clark are back in training but the game is likely to come too soon. Montrose are without Paul Lunan and have doubts over Lloyd Young and Scott Johnston due to illness.
Past meetings: Montrose were deserved 3-1 winners at Forthbank in October and we crashed 5-1 on our last visit to Links Park for a Challenge Cup tie in 2007. Our most recent league encounter away to the Gable Endies saw us win 4-1 in February 2004 with goals from Ryan Davidson, David O’Brien, Derek Lyle and George Rowe.
Match facts: We have won our last two games against Berwick and Peterhead but have taken just one point on the road, in a 2-2 draw at Peterhead. Montrose’s only defeat in the past eight matches was against Rangers – their last outing was a 2-2 draw at East Stirling on December 19. The Angus club have won three, drawn three and lost two of their eight home games. We make our second trip of the season to Links Park on Saturday April 6.
Greig McDonald: “It would be good to break our away duck but it will not be easy as Montrose have looked strong this season.”
Stuart Garden: “Stirling’s two recent wins will have given them a fair degree of confidence and they also have a number of very good players as well.”
