Stirling v Peterhead preview

We are at home to fifth-placed Peterhead on Saturday, looking to build on our 6-3 win over Berwick and close the three-point gap on second-bottom East Stirlingshire. This game was originally due to be played on Boxing Day but was brought forward at the request of the clubs and is our final home fixture of 2012 – let’s hope we can sign off on a high!

Team news: Defender Jamie Clark remains out and the game comes too soon for Danny Ashe. Daly McSorley returns from a one-match ban and Gary Thom is available before serving a suspension next weekend. Jamie McCunnie and Marc McCulloch are back after illness. Callum MacDonald and David Ross miss out for Peterhead, who welcome back Graeme Sharp.

Past meetings: It was 2-2 at Balmoor at the end of October when we fought back to earn a deserved draw, courtesy of goals from Jordan White and Josh Flood. Peterhead’s last visits to Forthbank were in 2009/10 when we won both games en route to the Division Two title.

Match facts: We are seeking back-to-back league wins in the same season for the first time since we beat Brechin and Albion Rovers at the beginning of March. Last week’s 6-3 win over Berwick was our first such victory since a League Cup tie against Cowdenbeath in 1968. Peterhead beat Annan 2-0 last weekend to extend their unbeaten run at Balmoor but Jim McInally’s side’s only away win so far was 2-0 against Clyde in mid-August – that game was played at Recreation Park as the Broadwood plastic pitch was not quite ready for action.
