Peterhead v Stirling match preview

Peterhead v Stirling match preview

The first quarter of the Third Division campaign comes to an end this weekend when we make the long haul north to Balmoor to face Peterhead. It is our first visit to the North East since a 1-1 draw in March 2010 and you have to go back to December 2006 for our last victory there, when Dougie Wilson snatched a last-gasp goal as we stormed back from 2-0 down to win 3-2.

Team news Albion are without striker Steven Weir, who will also miss next week’s Scottish Cup clash against Deveronvale due to a two-match ban. Player/assistant manager Marc McCulloch is out with an ankle knock. Peterhead are missing Callum MacDonald and Jamie Redman but hope to have Scott Ross available after appealing his red card of last weekend.

Marc McCulloch “The performance against Montrose wasn’t good enough and we need more energy and enthusiasm from the players against Peterhead. The team picked itself for the Montrose game because everyone did so well against Rangers but places are up for grabs this weekend.”

Jim McInally: “Stirling remind me of Peterhead last season in that they have a squad of decent players who should be getting better results but things have just not clicked together yet.”

Match facts We have lost all three away league games – 3-1 at both Elgin and East Stirling and 4-1 at Berwick. Peterhead are undefeated at home and have beaten Montrose, Berwick and Queen’s Park without conceding a goal since drawing 2-2 with Rangers on the opening day. Our last away shut-out in the league was in January, when we beat Albion Rovers 1-0 at Cliftonhill but we have failed to score in just one away match since mid-March.
