Dalbeattie Star match preview

SAFC Match Preview, News

Stirling Albion make the 105-mile journey to Islecroft Stadium to take on South of Scotland League leaders and reigning champions Dalbeattie Star in the second round of the William Hill Scottish Cup on Saturday.

We travel south on a run of five straight defeats in Division Three and in search of our first win in this competition since beating Albion Rovers 3-1 in a fourth-round replay in January 2010.

Dalbeattie are on a high after seven league wins out of seven in 2012/13 and John MacBeth’s side present a tough test for Greig McDonald’s men, who will be without Scott Davidson, Bradley Coyne and Gavin Macpherson.

David McClune, Kieran McAnespie and Shaun Fagan are back in contention after injury and Binos boss McDonald said: “After our poor run of results the players know we need to pick ourselves up, take the criticism on the chin and win the game.

“There is no hiding place in football and the only way to respond is to win matches. Myself, Marc, Shaun and the players are absolutely determined to do that. I’m sure John MacBeth’s team will be determined to cause an upset – however, if our players show the right attitude I’m confident we can book our place in the next round.”

Referee: Nick Walsh

Admission: £8 adults/£4 concessions

Replay date: Wednesday October 10, 7.45pm

Third-round draw: Monday October 1 at 11am
